Four seconds can change everything.

Saving 4 Seconds

About the Film

On September 20, 2013, 18-year-old Kyle Gamboa searched his computer for the documentary The Bridge to learn how to end his life.

At 11:30am that day, Kyle pulled his car over in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge, climbed over the roadside railing, crossed the sidewalk, and leaped the four seconds to his death in the waters below.

Saving 4 Seconds follows the path of Kyle's parents and their tireless advocacy to build a suicide barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge. In partnership with the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, the film shows never-before-seen CCTV camera footage of employees saving the lives of strangers at their lowest point and showcases the unsung heroes who patrol the bridge every day.

With breathtaking moments, political twists, and grief transformed into action, Saving 4 Seconds reveals how a decades-long effort to build a suicide barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge faced countless hurdles and forever changed the legacy of one of the world's most iconic structures.
